The flashcards on this site were developed as a study aid for classes offered at Soko Gakuen. They have been divided into groups and labeled with the class and lesson to which they pertain.

Card sets relating to the Beginning 1-3 classes are supplimentary to the lessons presented in the textbook Basic Functional Japanese.

I am currently enrolled in the Intermediate 2 class and hope to be adding new card sets every week. :)

Be careful, there are errors... I suggest installing the Rikaichan plugin for Firefox and double-checking things that just don't seem right.

There are currently 3 versions of the flashcard application:

The current version is based of javascript unique to the Firefox browser. It may work with IE8 and Safari, but it will not work with IE7.

The original version includes some new features and was redesigned to be easily used with handheld internet devices such as the Nokia n810 and Apple iPhone.

The experimental version is currently in development. It will probably be changing frequently and may not even work at times.

The following are my design goals for future versions:

Implement the spaced repetition learning technique. In the current version I have a very crude implementation in the "learn" button, which will repeat the same flash-card after 4-8 cards.

Add some wiki-like functions. Allowing users to flag flash-cards that they think are incorrect and add comments as to why.

The raw data used to generate these flashcards is availabe here in colon delimited unicode files.
